Year 5

Our Year 5 classes are:

Honduras Class - Mrs. Johnson (from summer term)

El Salvador Class - Mrs. Kerr

Year 5 started the Spring term with an exciting inspiration day about making things go.  They made models that move which wasn't an easy feet but had lots of fun in the process.

Over the course of the term, they carried out a range of science investigations into forces and their properties which included using materials such as casein plastic from milk and vinegar.

In maths, the children learnt written methods to solve long division and multiplication equations and demonstrated their understanding of fractions using visual representation including the bar model.

They have studied different texts in literacy including traditional tales and explored the books 'Firebird' and 'The Princess'Blankets'.  They also read and discussed a famous poem by the author Alfred Noye - 'The Highway Man'.  The children developed their cross curricular learning by linking their literacy to art and history.
