SPRING TERM

Spring term was a busy term for Year 6 and saw many of the children take part in their residential visit to Little Canada in the Isle of Wight.  The children had a chance to learn many new skills and take part in lots of exciting activities including quad biking, archery, giant swing, problem solving and camp fire building.  For the children who remained at school, they enjoyed visits to Leeds Castle and Severndroog Castle.

Their IPC units were 'Weather and Climate' (spring 1) and 'Out of Africa' (spring 2).  The children learnt about climate change and wrote informative reports on this linked into their core text 'Floodlands; by Marcus Sedgewick.  The texts tells the story of a girl abandoned at seas and the consquences of the rising sea levels on the world.

As part of their learning on 'Out of Africa' a unit which focuses on adaptation and evolution, the children read and explored the text 'The Other Side of Truth' which explores the emotional journey of escaping Nigeria for it's fictional characters.  The children wrote as the main character and were able to capture her emotions as diary entries.

Summer term looks set to be equally as busy with SATS, end of term production and celebrations.
