Find attached our priorities for 2017/18

It is our commitment to ensure that every pupil at Belmont receives the best possible teaching and support our resources can offer. This will enable them to make excellent progress from their individual starting point and equip them to access the next phase of their education.

In 2017/18 we will be having a Year of Maths. Our key priority is to ensure that pupils outcomes in maths improve in all key stages. This includes:

  • More pupils reaching the expected standard by the end of EYFS, KS1 and KS2
  • More pupils reach 'exceeding' by the end of EYFS and the greater depth standard in KS1 and KS2
  • More boys reach the expected standard by the end of KS1
  • Girls make better progress in KS2 so more achieve the expected standard and greater depth by the end of Year 6

We aim to achieve this by:

  • Increasing our range of booster sessions for KS2 in order to close the gap for pupils who have fallen behind
  • Launch our new Calculation Policy and give parents more opportunities to learn about how we teach maths so they can better support their children at home
  • Provide a comprehensive programme of staff development and training to further build on best practices in the school. This will include introducing the Singapore Bar method
  • Participation in the London South East Maths Hub Maths Mastery Working Group
